MedLEaPR is designed to replace traditional handwritten documentation with a secure and efficient digital system.
In a significant move towards strengthening transparency and accountability in medico-legal processes, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the MedLEaPR (Medical Legal Examination and Post-Mortem Reporting) platform at the Delhi Secretariat on Sunday.
Developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the platform is set to digitize the documentation of medico-legal cases (MLCs) and post-mortem reports (PMRs) across all healthcare institutions in the capital.
MedLEaPR is designed to replace traditional handwritten documentation with a secure and efficient digital system.
It enables real-time electronic submission of MLCs and PMRs, helping eliminate delays and improving the overall accuracy of medico-legal records.
"The goal of the system is to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the medico-legal documentation process," CM Gupta stated during the launch event.
The event was attended by Delhi Minister Ashish Sood, Chief Secretary Dharmendra, and senior officials from the Delhi Police, Home Department, and NIC.
The platform ensures that only authorized personnel can access sensitive medico-legal information through secure user authentication and access control measures.
A built-in audit trail feature records every user action within the system, offering complete transparency and traceability.
MedLEaPR is also integrated with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), enabling seamless data sharing and coordination between hospitals, police departments, forensic labs, and judicial bodies.
CM Gupta highlighted that the digitization effort would not only reduce manual errors and processing times but also lead to improved coordination between healthcare and law enforcement agencies.
"This initiative significantly improves the efficiency of our medico-legal systems and strengthens the legal process through better documentation and communication," she said.
Emphasizing the government's commitment to e-governance, she added, "MedLEaPR is a testament to our commitment to Digital India. We aim to provide fast, transparent, and trustworthy services to the public through advanced technology."
