Commure Integrates Ambient AI into MEDITECH Expanse Now Mobile EHR

The integration aims to streamline clinical documentation and reduce administrative workload for clinicians, allowing them to concentrate more fully on patient care within their existing mobile workflows.

Commure, a healthcare technology company, has announced the direct embedding of its Ambient AI technology within MEDITECH Expanse Now, the physician mobile application in the MEDITECH Expanse EHR platform.

The integration aims to streamline clinical documentation and reduce administrative workload for clinicians, allowing them to concentrate more fully on patient care within their existing mobile workflows.

Early adopters now have access, with broader availability planned.

Commure’s Ambient technology captures and structures patient-clinician conversations in real time, delivering AI-powered documentation that fits naturally into clinical workflows. According to the company, this system saves providers an average of 90 minutes per day, alleviating cognitive overload and enabling clinicians to remain focused during patient encounters.

The integration forms part of Commure’s broader Ambient Suite, which addresses workforce shortages and documentation inefficiencies across various care settings, including ambulatory and emergency departments. Built with an understanding of revenue cycle management, the suite leverages clinical and financial insights to enhance documentation quality.

Ian Shakil, Chief Strategy Officer of Commure, commented, “Integrating our Ambient AI technology directly within MEDITECH Expanse Now is a significant step forward in our mission to transform healthcare organizations into the most advanced, intelligent, and human-centered systems.” He added that the integration uses gold-standard technology to securely exchange data and accurately upload generated notes back into discrete sections of MEDITECH Expanse.

This embedded offering complements other Commure ambient mobile and web applications, which use deep bidirectional integration with MEDITECH Expanse. The company collaborates with clinicians and administrators to improve workflow efficiency, reduce administrative burdens, and support patient engagement. Commure integrates with over 60 EHRs and processes millions of patient encounters annually.
