Chandigarh University Student Builds AI-Based Hospital Automation Startup Medoc

The startup has reported a valuation of INR 22 Cr and annual revenue of INR 1.26 Cr for 2025-26.

Chandigarh University alumnus Utkarsh Luthra has built Medoc Health, an AI-based hospital and patient care automation startup focused on digitising hospital workflows, clinical documentation, and patient information, which has been adopted by 98 hospitals across five states.

The AI-based hospital & patient care automation startup ‘Medoc’ was developed with support from the Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator (CU-TBI), which has provided incubation, mentorship, technology infrastructure, industry exposure, and business support.

The startup has reported a valuation of INR 22 Cr and annual revenue of INR 1.26 Cr for 2025-26.

Founded with a focus on healthcare providers in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, Medoc Health has built an integrated platform covering hospital management, clinical documentation, diagnostics, insurance, patient records and communication.

The startup has also developed offline-first capabilities for hospitals operating with inconsistent connectivity and supports 12 Indian languages.

Luthra said the idea emerged from challenges observed during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly delays and operational difficulties caused by fragmented processes and the absence of streamlined SOPs.

“I saw the need for a technology-driven solution that could save time, streamline operations, and offer a cost-effective approach for hospitals, particularly across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. The aim was to democratize access to efficient hospital and patient-care automation, making these solutions accessible beyond major urban centres,” Luthra said.

Medoc Health currently offers nine integrated products. Its Axon platform manages functions including outpatient and inpatient services, billing, inventory, pharmacy, human resources and finance, while DocAssist supports clinical documentation and prescriptions.

Monarcs uses AI to analyse medical images and diagnostic information and flag findings for clinical review. Other products address insurance, compliance, communication and patient records.

One of the startup’s key offerings, Medoc Sync, digitises handwritten prescriptions, laboratory reports and clinical notes, including documents written in multiple Indian languages.

The startup says its radiology technology can pre-screen X-rays, CT scans and MRIs for more than 40 findings, while its diagnostics engine can process more than 60 diagnostic panels.

“A conventional automation system for a 100-bed hospital can cost around ₹8 to 10 lakh, whereas we have developed a solution that can bring the cost down to around 3 lakh, reducing the hospital automation cost by up to 60 per cent. The objective is not to replace doctors or nurses with technology, but to give them affordable tools that make their work more efficient and allow hospitals to improve productivity and grow their revenues,” Luthra added.

The startup has received INR 10 lakh in seed funding from NIT Jalandhar under the Startup India ecosystem and is in discussions for an additional INR 50 lakh. It has also received INR 50 lakh from an angel investor.
