BHU Trauma Centre Launches Real-Time Bed Availability System

The system allows patients and attendants to view vacant and occupied beds, names of the respective doctors, the previous day's emergency census, and the current number of patients waiting in the emergency department.

The trauma centre of the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), BHU, has introduced a system providing real-time information on ICU and ward bed availability, aiming to enhance transparency and patient trust.

Launching the initiative on Sunday evening, Trauma Centre in-charge Prof Saurabh Singh said, "This facility will eliminate uncertainty and ambiguity regarding bed availability. By making the actual status of admissions visible in real time, it instils confidence and reassurance among patients and their families."

The system allows patients and attendants to view vacant and occupied beds, names of the respective doctors, the previous day's emergency census, and the current number of patients waiting in the emergency department.

Officials noted that the initiative strengthens the bond of trust between patients, their attendants, and the medical fraternity.

"Transparency is the best methodology. With this initiative, patients and their families will have access to real-time information, thereby reinforcing trust and accountability in hospital services," Prof Singh added.

Bed availability information can be accessed through the trauma centre’s official website https://traumacentrebhu.com/#/bed-availability or via a QR code for mobile access. The system updates automatically every five minutes, ensuring accurate and timely data.

Prof Singh emphasized that the trauma centre remains committed not only to clinical care but also to providing a transparent, reliable, and accountable patient experience.
