Baptist Health to Acquire Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Arkansas
The acquisition is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close on July 12, 2026.
Baptist Health has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia, Arkansas, expanding its footprint in community healthcare delivery. The acquisition is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close on July 12, 2026.
Following completion, the 25-bed facility will be renamed Baptist Health Medical Center-Magnolia. The move aligns with Baptist Health’s strategy to strengthen its presence in rural and community hospital operations across the state.
Troy Wells, president and CEO of Baptist Health, said the organization evaluates community needs before undertaking such acquisitions, particularly at a time when operating rural hospitals remains challenging. He noted that the system has experience managing similar facilities across Arkansas.
Magnolia Regional Medical Center currently provides a range of services, including emergency care and specialized outpatient treatments, catering to the healthcare needs of the local population. The integration into Baptist Health is expected to maintain continuity of these services while aligning operations with the larger health system.
William Giles, CEO and CFO of Magnolia Regional Medical Center, said the agreement is intended to ensure continued focus on patient care and long-term service delivery for the community.
The period between April and the planned July transition will be used to coordinate operational alignment and minimize disruptions to patient services. Both organizations indicated that the phased approach is designed to support staff, patients, and ongoing care processes during the integration.
Baptist Health, one of Arkansas’ largest healthcare systems, has operated for over a century and continues to expand its network through acquisitions and partnerships aimed at sustaining healthcare access in smaller communities.
