The Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission (ABDM) has created more than 93.95 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHAs) and linked over 105 crore health records, making it one of the world's largest digital health ecosystems, according to the Union Health Ministry.
The ministry shared the figures during the 3rd Meeting of the Mission Steering Group, chaired by Union Health Minister JP Nadda, to review the progress of the national digital health initiative and discuss its next phase of implementation.
According to the ministry, the digital health ecosystem now includes 5.33 lakh registered health facilities and 9.85 lakh healthcare professionals on the national digital health registries. Additionally, 2.72 lakh healthcare facilities have adopted ABDM-enabled software, while nearly 24 crore Scan & Register tokens have been generated to enable faster outpatient department (OPD) registrations.
The ministry said ABDM has expanded across States and Union Territories through initiatives such as Model Districts, Model Facilities, and Aarogya Setu 2.0. It has also strengthened integration with several government health programs, including Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), and Nikshay.
During the meeting, members reviewed measures to accelerate ABDM adoption across the country and discussed proposals to expand digital health services further. The agenda also included improving interoperability between digital health platforms, promoting adoption of nationally notified digital health standards, strengthening governance mechanisms, and enhancing citizen access to healthcare services through seamless digital platforms.
According to an official statement issued by the ministry, Nadda said that while ABDM has established a strong digital health infrastructure, the next phase should prioritize wider adoption and utilization across the country.
The ministry said the focus will remain on increasing the use of ABDM-enabled services across healthcare providers while improving integration and accessibility to support digital healthcare delivery nationwide.
