Aster Volunteers Adds Two Mobile Medical Units in South India, Expands Global Fleet to 71

Aster Volunteers, the global CSR initiative of Aster DM Healthcare, has launched two new Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in Tirupati and Anekal, expanding its global fleet to 71 vehicles. With these additions, 49 units are now operational in India.
The Tirupati unit was introduced in collaboration with Aster Narayanadri Hospital, while the Anekal vehicle was launched in partnership with Centre for Integral Rural Welfare, Jnana Jyothi. The initiative is aimed at improving primary healthcare access in underserved and remote communities across South India.
According to the organization, the new units are designed to strengthen outreach-led care by integrating digital systems, preventive screenings, and referral support. T. J. Wilson, Executive Director, Aster DM Healthcare, said the expansion is intended to bring healthcare services directly to communities with limited access to structured facilities.
Each mobile medical unit features medical-grade interiors with dedicated areas for registration, consultation, examination, and pharmacy services. The vehicles are equipped with ramps to support elderly and differently abled patients, along with power backup systems, clean water facilities, biomedical waste disposal mechanisms, and GPS-enabled communication tools.
The units will offer free primary consultations, screening for non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health services, health education, and referral linkages for advanced treatment when required. Integrated digital tools, including electronic medical records, tablet-based registration systems, and remote connectivity, are being deployed to support patient follow-up and continuity of care.
The organization stated that the expanded fleet will continue to focus on emerging towns and underserved regions, targeting gaps in preventive and primary healthcare access through mobile outreach services.
