Amazon Pharmacy Expands $5 RxPass Subscription to Texas

The service, available to Prime members, including Medicare beneficiaries, covers over 50 commonly prescribed medications for conditions such as anxiety, diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.

Amazon Pharmacy has expanded its $5 monthly RxPass subscription service to Texas, aiming to improve access for nearly two million residents living in pharmacy deserts and managing multiple chronic conditions.

The service, available to Prime members, including Medicare beneficiaries, covers over 50 commonly prescribed medications for conditions such as anxiety, diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.

Subscribers pay $5 per month regardless of the number of prescriptions, with free two-day delivery and same-day service in eligible locations.

Texas ranks fourth highest in the percentage of U.S. adults with three or more chronic conditions, underlining the significance of this expansion. RxPass, already available in 48 states, is designed to ease access to essential medications and improve continuity of care.

"At a time when nearly half of the U.S. population is managing chronic conditions, bringing affordable and convenient access to medications through our expansion of RxPass to customers in 48 U.S. states will help many manage their conditions more easily," said John Love, Vice President of Amazon Pharmacy. "Amazon Pharmacy will continue to leverage Amazon's customer-obsessed approach and extensive delivery network infrastructure to ensure customers enjoy the ease and convenience of managing their health through fast medication delivery."

Amazon notes that RxPass has improved adherence, which remains a critical factor for the 133 million Americans managing at least one chronic illness.

"Many customers, especially older adults, face multiple barriers when managing chronic conditions that could be life-altering," said Tess Carey, Senior Pharmacist at Amazon Pharmacy. "With RxPass, customers can enjoy the benefits of having affordable, reliable medication access, which will increase adherence and help save lives."

According to data shared, nearly nine in ten adults aged 65 and older take prescription medications, with more than half managing four or more prescriptions. For these patients, RxPass is positioned to ease both affordability and access.

Healthcare providers can prescribe directly to Amazon Pharmacy, while patients can transfer existing prescriptions. Licensed pharmacists remain available 24/7 for medication-related queries.

With this move, Amazon Pharmacy extends RxPass to Texas while maintaining coverage in 48 states nationwide.
