Alphabet’s Verily Launches AI Health App ‘Verily Me’ for Easier Medical Data Sharing

The app, called Verily Me, enables users to conveniently access and share relevant health records with clinicians across different healthcare systems.

Verily, Alphabet Inc.’s life sciences arm, is introducing a new AI-driven health application just months after the Trump administration encouraged technology companies to expand health-focused digital tools for consumers.

The app, called Verily Me, enables users to conveniently access and share relevant health records with clinicians across different healthcare systems. It is built on Verily’s existing software platform that organizes and connects data such as electronic health records (EHRs).

Major players including Alphabet, Apple Inc., and Amazon.com Inc. have pledged to collaborate with U.S. health systems and the Trump administration to make fragmented medical data more accessible.

In July, the administration announced a voluntary agreement aimed at improving data-sharing and expanding consumer health applications.

Verily’s new app also introduces - Ask Violet, a private AI companion that can answer personal questions about health records within a protected setting. Despite ongoing privacy concerns, consumers are already uploading sensitive data such as lab tests and medical reports into AI chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Apple, too, is advancing its health technology portfolio. The company plans to roll out a food tracking feature in its updated Health app, along with an AI-based coach that uses data from Apple devices to offer personalized recommendations for improving health.

Earlier this month, a senior Alphabet executive testified that the company has been working over the past two years to technologically decouple Verily so that it could be sold or spun off in the future.
