AIIMS Bilaspur Marks Three Years with Rapid Tech-Driven Expansion, Says Union Health Minister Nadda
Upcoming projects include a robotic surgery unit, trauma and critical care centre, drone-based logistics for remote healthcare, and a bone marrow transplant block.
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, has recently presided over the 3rd Foundation Day celebrations of AIIMS Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh.
The event was attended by Shri Anurag Thakur, Member of Parliament; Shri Harsh Mahajan, Rajya Sabha MP; Shri Jai Ram Thakur, Ex-Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Himachal Pradesh; and Col. Dr. Dhani Ram Shandil, State Health Minister.
Addressing the gathering, Nadda said, “With state-of-the-art facilities such as advanced MRI, CT scanner, PET-CT, endoscopy suites, and bronchoscopy suites now in place, AIIMS Bilaspur has made remarkable progress within just three years of its establishment.”
He added, “The fact that people from nearby states are also seeking treatment at AIIMS Bilaspur highlights the growing trust and confidence in this institute.”
The Health Minister noted that AIIMS Bilaspur has achieved significant progress in nuclear medicine, cancer care, and renal transplants.
“A major milestone for Himachal Pradesh has been the reduction in out-of-pocket expenditure. Whereas earlier people had to travel to PGI Chandigarh, today AIIMS Bilaspur meets the high-end tertiary medical needs of the region,” he stated.
The institute’s rapid transformation is underpinned by advanced diagnostic technologies, digital healthcare infrastructure, and specialized critical care facilities. It currently operates 734 beds and provides services including PET-CT, SPECT-CT, modern oncology units, renal transplants, ICUs, and bronchoscopy.
Upcoming projects include a robotic surgery unit, trauma and critical care centre, drone-based logistics for remote healthcare, and a bone marrow transplant block.
On medical education, Nadda announced 127 new posts, including 29 faculty positions. He also emphasized the need to uphold the AIIMS brand by maintaining quality care, replicating successes of other AIIMS centers, and fostering innovation.
