Nihilent Launches nSEPIA, an AI-Powered Emotion Detection and Wellness App

Available for Android and iOS internationally, nSEPIA is designed to help users identify their current emotional state, engage with a suggested intervention, and reassess their emotions afterward.

Nihilent Limited has globally launched nSEPIA, an AI-powered emotion detection and emotional wellness app that uses a device camera to assess users’ emotional states and recommend personalized interventions across music, breathwork, yoga, and meditation.

Available for Android and iOS internationally, nSEPIA is designed to help users identify their current emotional state, engage with a suggested intervention, and reassess their emotions afterward. The app follows an awareness, intervention, and reflection cycle rather than requiring users to select wellness content themselves.

The app uses Emotion AI to analyze subtle spatial and temporal movement patterns across the face and eye region, along with head and upper-body movements, to assess emotional states. According to Nihilent, the assessment is processed on the device to protect user privacy.

Following the assessment, nSEPIA recommends interventions based on the user's emotional state. These include musical experiences, breathwork, yoga, and meditation. Users can reassess their emotional state after completing an intervention to observe changes.

The app's music-based experiences include Indian classical ragas, Western symphonic music, and specially created compositions. Its meditation, breathwork, and yoga content incorporates established Indian practices, including approaches influenced by the B.K.S. Iyengar tradition, with inputs from relevant experts. Guided reflection is also included as part of the experience.

Nihilent said nSEPIA is powered by Emoscape, its medical-grade Emotion AI platform. Emoscape combines artificial intelligence, computer vision and machine learning within a proprietary, patent-protected framework based on the Navarasa principles described in the Natyashastra. The platform has undergone scientific and academic research to evaluate its ability to objectively assess human emotions.

L.C. Singh, Founder and Executive Chairman, Nihilent Limited, said nSEPIA is intended to help individuals become aware of their emotions in the moment and take a relevant step toward emotional balance.

Dr. Vihang Vahia, Consultant Psychiatrist and Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry, said greater objectivity in understanding emotions could support how individuals recognize and respond to their emotional states.

While Emoscape is intended for professional and institutional applications, Nihilent said nSEPIA extends its emotion-awareness capabilities to individual users for everyday use.
