The decision follows a notable surge in investor interest and aims to position the region as a growing hub for medical equipment production.

In a strategic move to support India’s medical manufacturing sector, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has expanded its planned Medical Device Park from 350 to 500 acres.

The decision follows a notable surge in investor interest and aims to position the region as a growing hub for medical equipment production.

According to YEIDA CEO Arun Veer Singh, the expansion has been driven by the increasing number of companies eager to establish manufacturing units in the park. “We have already allotted 179 acres to 74 companies. Of these, 36 companies have completed lease agreements. One company has finished construction work, and 11 others are currently building their facilities,” said Singh.

The 150-acre extension is intended to accommodate additional firms expressing interest. YEIDA confirmed that 40 new companies have recently registered for investment within the park, many of which are expected to focus on manufacturing medical devices used in disease prevention and treatment.

Focus on Domestic Production and Connectivity

The Medical Device Park is envisioned to strengthen domestic production capacity in the healthcare sector, emphasizing critical equipment and technologies. Manufacturers' increasing interest reflects a broader push to reduce dependency on imports and improve accessibility to quality medical tools.

YEIDA officials noted that improved connectivity through the upcoming Noida International Airport will further benefit the park's logistics and supply chain efficiencies. The airport is scheduled to commence operations post-May 2025.

“The airport will provide a significant boost in terms of accessibility and logistics, offering a strong advantage for companies operating in the medical devices segment,” Singh said.

While the park’s development continues, the authority reiterated its focus on enabling infrastructure and policy support to attract high-value healthcare manufacturers and ensure long-term operational viability.
