Union Minister Harsh Malhotra Calls for Technology-Driven Healthcare, Highlights Digital Systems & Patient Access
Malhotra highlighted how digital appointment systems and effective patient coordination can make healthcare services more accessible and organised.
Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra has called for greater integration of technology, specialised medical expertise and efficient healthcare management to improve patient access and service delivery, highlighting the growing importance of technology-driven healthcare in modernising medical institutions.
Malhotra highlighted how digital appointment systems, effective patient coordination and timely specialist consultations can make healthcare services more accessible and organised.
He observed that patients should be able to secure appointments without unnecessary delays, consult the appropriate specialists, receive accurate diagnoses and initiate treatment promptly.
Technology-enabled hospital and clinic management systems, he said, can support these processes by improving coordination between doctors, diagnostic facilities and administrative teams.
Malhotra also emphasised the importance of organised healthcare institutions that bring together specialist doctors and the infrastructure required to support their services. He noted that medical specialisation, including gastroenterology and its various subspecialties, requires dedicated expertise, diagnostic capabilities and effective institutional management.
Highlighting the potential of outpatient healthcare, the minister observed that several diagnostic and minor therapeutic procedures can be performed without prolonged hospitalisation, provided appropriate medical infrastructure, qualified professionals and patient safety arrangements are available.
He also stressed that efficient management and sound corporate governance are essential for healthcare institutions to maintain reliable services, improve the working environment for doctors and enhance patient convenience.
As healthcare providers increasingly explore technology-driven healthcare models, integrating digital systems with clinical expertise and accessible infrastructure will remain important.
Effective implementation will depend on how these technologies improve patient coordination, operational efficiency, and continuity of care.
