To further this digital health initiative, the government is preparing to roll out family digital health cards within the next 30 days.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced on Thursday that the state government is considering a new initiative to create digital health profiles for all citizens.
He said this move would significantly aid doctors in providing timely and effective treatment while also benefiting patients by consolidating their health information in one place.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Durgabai Deshmukh Cancer Centre in Hyderabad, CM Reddy explained that often patients do not recall their previous treatments, and doctors may not have the time for detailed patient histories.
"With a digital health profile, a patient’s medical history can be accessed with a single click, offering doctors convenience in determining the next course of treatment," he stated.
To further this digital health initiative, the government is preparing to roll out family digital health cards within the next 30 days.
These cards will be linked to existing welfare schemes, making it easier for beneficiaries to access various services.
According to a recent official release, the state is also working on the 'One State-One Digital Card' program.
This card would allow beneficiaries to seamlessly avail of welfare schemes, health services, and rations from the Public Distribution System (PDS) across the state.
The CM noted that this digital integration will enable citizens to access these services from any location within Telangana.
The new health initiative follows closely after Telangana’s Health Minister C Damodar Raja Narasimha announced the "Health Profile of Individuals in the Family" project.
This ambitious program aims to create a comprehensive digital health profile for 83.04 Lakh families across both rural and urban areas, aligned with the 2011 census data.
During a recent high-level meeting, the Health Minister directed authorities to collect health data using a designated mobile app.
The program will document personal details and health histories, which will help the government address the future health needs of the state's population.
To ensure smooth execution, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) will be tasked with gathering the necessary health information from each household in rural areas.
The health minister stressed the importance of the initiative's success, calling for a sincere effort from the health department.
The Minister also engaged with representatives from private hospitals to discuss their input on the initiative and instructed officials to incorporate their suggestions, ensuring a comprehensive approach to healthcare digitization in Telangana.
