Operating directly on agents' devices, the AI advisor serves as a real-time guidance tool during policy consultations.
Star Health, a Chennai-based health insurance company, has deployed an AI advisor within its ATOM PRO application to assist insurance agents during policy sales and claims management.
The insurer says the platform is improving policy transparency, speeding up issuance, and expanding digital claims processing as it works toward settling 50 per cent of claims through AI-driven systems over the next two years.
Operating directly on agents' devices, the AI advisor serves as a real-time guidance tool during policy consultations.
It presents details such as premiums, product features, riders, waiting periods, and coverage information in a structured format, allowing customers to compare options and make informed decisions.
By providing greater visibility into policy terms before purchase, the platform aims to reduce misunderstandings that can later result in disputes during claims settlement.
“For customers, buying health insurance should not feel complex or time-consuming. They should be able to understand what a plan offers, compare relevant options, know the waiting periods and see accurate pricing before making a decision. ATOM PRO is helping our agents bring that clarity and speed into the purchase journey, while enabling them to serve customers with greater confidence,” said Anand Roy, MD & CEO, Star Health.
The insurer reports that the platform has significantly reduced policy issuance timelines.
More than 95 per cent of retail policies are now processed digitally, while around 80 per cent are issued within five minutes.
According to Star Health, digital reimbursement capabilities have increased the proportion of claims submitted digitally from 8 per cent to 21 per cent.
Agents can now upload documents directly through the platform, reducing dependency on physical paperwork and enabling faster claim registration and review.
