Chai Discovery, Bristol Myers Squibb Collaborate on AI-Driven Antibody Discovery
Under the collaboration, Bristol Myers Squibb will use Chai Discovery’s AI models and platform capabilities to support the identification of antibody candidates and its efforts to develop an AI-powered, continuously learning discovery system.
Chai Discovery has announced a collaboration with Bristol Myers Squibb to advance the discovery of therapeutic antibodies using artificial intelligence (AI), with BMS set to leverage Chai’s molecular folding and design models across its drug discovery portfolio.
Under the collaboration, Bristol Myers Squibb will use Chai Discovery’s AI models and platform capabilities to support the identification of antibody candidates and its efforts to develop an AI-powered, continuously learning discovery system.
Chai Discovery’s platform uses AI to predict and reprogram molecular interactions and generate new biomolecules based on specified properties. The company said its models are designed to help scientists accelerate discovery cycles and pursue drug targets that have historically been difficult to address using conventional discovery approaches.
“By combining Chai’s advanced AI models with Bristol Myers Squibb’s deep therapeutic expertise, we hope to rapidly accelerate the timeline from concept to viable therapeutic candidates,” said Joshua Meier, co-founder and CEO of Chai Discovery.
The collaboration will also extend the use of Chai’s technology across diverse drug targets, according to the company. Bristol Myers Squibb is the latest biopharmaceutical company to collaborate with Chai Discovery.
Founded in 2024 by Joshua Meier, Jack Dent, Matthew McPartlon and Jacques Boitreaud, Chai Discovery is headquartered in San Francisco, California. The company develops AI models focused on biological structure and function, including molecular design and biomolecular interaction prediction.
Chai Discovery is backed by investors including Index Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia Capital, Dimension, Oak HC/FT, General Catalyst, OpenAI, Thrive Capital and Menlo Ventures.
