Samsung Unveils AI-Driven R20 Ultrasound System

The platform aims to deliver improved visualization, diagnostic accuracy, and workflow efficiency.

Samsung launched the R20, a super-premium ultrasound system for general imaging, integrating next-generation artificial intelligence and its proprietary Crystal Architecture technology.

The platform aims to deliver improved visualization, diagnostic accuracy, and workflow efficiency.

Equipped with a next-generation imaging engine, GPU, and an ultra-high-definition OLED display, the R20 promises superior image clarity and uniformity across applications. According to Samsung, the system enhances resolution and penetration, supporting accurate diagnosis in real time.

The R20 features multiple AI-assisted tools, including Live LiverAssist for detecting suspicious liver lesions, Live BreastAssist with BI-RADS classification for breast imaging, automated measurement tools for consistent reporting, and Deep USFF, an AI-based solution for quantifying liver fat with high correlation to MRI-PDFF standards.

The system is designed for wide clinical utility, offering strong performance in abdominal, thyroid, musculoskeletal, vascular, breast, obstetrics, gynecology, and urology imaging. Enhanced Doppler sensitivity enables improved detection of subtle vascular structures and pathologies across diverse patient profiles.

“The R20 embodies Samsung’s commitment to advancing healthcare through intelligent innovation. With AI at its core and a focus on both image excellence and clinician comfort, the R20 is a paradigm shift in ultrasound technology, helping doctors ensure detection of lesions during live scanning,” said Atantra Das Gupta, Head of HME Business, Samsung India.

Ergonomics and usability are emphasized in the R20’s design, featuring lightweight transducer cables, an intuitive touch interface, and customizable configurations aimed at reducing clinician strain and fatigue.
