Samsung has launched an advanced health monitoring smartwatch, expanding its lineup with a budget-friendly option that incorporates various features of the Galaxy Watch series at an affordable price point.
The newly introduced Galaxy Watch FE is designed to track over 100 different workouts, monitor sleep, and assess heart health through features including irregular rhythm notifications, blood pressure monitoring, and personalized heart zones.
Additionally, it includes Samsung's BioActive sensors for comprehensive health and fitness tracking, as well as body composition analysis and personalized fitness coaching.
The Galaxy Watch FE will be available in a 40mm size option in three colors: Black, Pink Gold, and Silver. It starts at $199 (around INR 16,000) and will be available globally, including in India, later this summer, likely in June.
An LTE version of the Galaxy Watch FE, launching later this year, will be priced at $249 (around INR 20,000).
The Galaxy Watch FE features a 1.2-inch super AMOLED display, an Exynos W920 dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 247mAh battery with wireless charging support.
Users can remotely control their smartphone camera, make payments using Samsung Wallet, and locate their phone via the Find My Phone feature on the watch.
The smartwatch also has an IP68 water resistance rating. It offers connectivity options such as NFC, WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.0.
In January, Samsung Electronics hinted at entering non-invasive glucose monitoring and continuous blood pressure checking device manufacturing. The tech giant is planning to integrate these features into a variety of devices including its smartwatches and newly announced Galaxy Ring.
Health tracking has become a decisive feature in smartphones, smartwatches, and other wearable technologies. While step count, calorie count, and other fitness-related tracking, have always been features to bank upon, health tracking combines the features of a medical device into a wearable technology.
Samsung launched a new medication tracking feature to its existing health app that will help users manage their health more comprehensively.
The newly added feature will allow users to easily keep track of their prescription and over-the-counter medications and provide important, relevant information and tips about these medications.
Furthermore, it includes insights into adverse reactions that may arise due to drug-to-drug interactions or when taken in conjunction with specific food items and substances such as caffeine and alcohol.
Reportedly, the feature will first be available in the US via the app updates rolling out later this week.
