Sakra World Hospital Launches Institute of Cancer Care and Blood Disorders in BLR
The institute aims to streamline diagnosis, treatment, and supportive care for cancer patients through a multidisciplinary model.
Sakra World Hospital has launched its Institute of Cancer Care and Blood Disorders in Bengaluru, establishing an integrated centre that brings oncology and haematology services under a single framework. The institute aims to streamline diagnosis, treatment, and supportive care for cancer patients through a multidisciplinary model.
The centre integrates medical oncology, surgical oncology, breast oncology, haematology, anaesthesiology, critical care, and other surgical specialties. These services are supported by diagnostics and multidisciplinary tumour boards to enable coordinated treatment planning based on individual patient needs.
Dr Vineet Gupta, Director and Head of the Institute of Cancer Care and Blood Disorders, said cancer incidence in India continues to rise, with more than 1.4 million new cases reported annually. He noted that delayed diagnosis and low awareness contribute to patients presenting at advanced stages, underscoring the need for timely detection and coordinated care.
According to the hospital, the institute will cover organ-specific oncology, minimally invasive and robotic surgeries, chemotherapy, supportive and palliative care, and survivorship programmes. The model is designed to provide continuity of care from diagnosis through recovery, while also focusing on preventive oncology and patient education initiatives to promote early detection.
The institute was inaugurated in the presence of Aravind Limbavali, former Minister of Forests, Government of Karnataka, and former MLA. Speaking at the event, Limbavali said the launch strengthens access to advanced cancer treatment in a rapidly growing region and enhances local healthcare infrastructure.
Yuichi Nagano, Managing Director of Sakra World Hospital, said the institute combines advanced medical technology and clinical expertise. Kei Iiyama, Deputy Managing Director, added that the integrated model is aligned with the hospital’s strategy of building high-acuity centres to address complex diseases. Lovekesh Kumar Phasu, Group Chief Operating Officer, stated that the centre is structured to reduce treatment delays and improve coordination by enabling faster access to specialist opinions and therapies.
The launch event included the unveiling of the institute board, the introduction of the specialist team, and the presentation of patient stories.
