RCML Acquires Majority Stake in Pratiksha Hospital, Guwahati

The transaction values the hospital at approximately INR 171 crore, marking RCML’s entry into the Assam and Northeast healthcare market.

Rainbow Children’s Medicare Limited (RCML) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a 76 percent controlling stake in Pratiksha Hospital, Guwahati.

The transaction values the hospital at approximately INR 171 crore, marking RCML’s entry into the Assam and Northeast healthcare market.

Founded in 1995 by Dr. Pramod Kumar Sharma, Pratiksha Hospital has been operational in Guwahati since then and notably delivered its first IVF baby in February 1997. Under the acquisition deal, Dr. Sharma and his family will retain the remaining shares.

With this addition, RCML will expand its network capacity by 150 beds, increasing its total to 2,185 beds spread across 21 hospitals in eight cities. The acquisition is fully funded through RCML’s cash reserves and internal accruals.

Following the transaction, the hospital will be rebranded as ‘Pratiksha Rainbow Children’s Hospital’ and integrated into Rainbow’s national network.

This integration will involve aligning clinical protocols, implementing centralized systems and governance, and connecting the hospital to Rainbow’s regional hubs in Hyderabad, New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai. This network linkage aims to facilitate advanced referrals and improve access to specialized pediatric and maternal care at tertiary and quaternary care levels.
