Paul Krakovitz, Former Intermountain Health Executive, Named CEO of Cone Health
Dr. Krakovitz brings over two decades of healthcare leadership experience to the role. He is a practicing pediatric otolaryngology physician at the University of Utah and has served in multiple executive and clinical positions throughout his career.
Paul Krakovitz, MD, has been named CEO of Greensboro-based Cone Health, effective March 16, the health system announced Dec. 23.
Dr. Krakovitz brings over two decades of healthcare leadership experience to the role. He is a practicing pediatric otolaryngology physician at the University of Utah and has served in multiple executive and clinical positions throughout his career.
Most recently, he was an executive-in-residence at Cressey & Company, an investment firm dedicated to advancing the U.S. healthcare system. Before that, he held senior leadership roles at Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health, including Desert Region president and senior vice president. At Intermountain, he also served as chief medical officer and vice president of specialty-based care. Dr. Krakovitz has held various clinical and operational roles at the Cleveland Clinic earlier in his career.
He will succeed Mary Jo Cagle, MD, who stepped down as CEO at the end of May. Until Dr. Krakovitz assumes the position, Bernie Sherry will continue as interim CEO.
Cone Health, part of Risant Health, a nonprofit affiliated with Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, employs over 13,000 people across its network in North Carolina.
