According to Optum, the platform is designed to help organizations cut integration costs, streamline workflows, and scale AI implementation more efficiently.

Optum, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group, has introduced AI Marketplace, a new digital platform to accelerate the use of artificial intelligence across the healthcare ecosystem.

Specifically tailored for payers, providers, and healthcare technology companies, the marketplace offers a curated selection of AI solutions and standardized APIs to simplify integration with clinical and administrative systems.

According to Optum, the platform is designed to help organizations cut integration costs, streamline workflows, and scale AI implementation more efficiently.

Available applications span various use cases, including claims processing, eligibility verification, patient engagement, care management, data access, and analytics.

By providing access to development tools and sandbox environments, AI Marketplace aims to help developers build and test their products quickly.

The marketplace will also promote compliance and data privacy, featuring applications that adhere to ethical AI practices while safeguarding sensitive health information.

Tech giants such as Microsoft, Google, and ServiceNow are among the initial contributors to the platform, alongside Optum’s own suite of tools.

The healthcare industry continues to struggle with inefficient data systems and administrative complexity.

According to McKinsey & Company, nearly $1 trillion of US healthcare spending stems from operational inefficiencies. These challenges contribute to fragmented care and preventable medical errors.

Optum said AI Marketplace will enable healthcare stakeholders to deploy AI faster and more affordably, unlocking innovation at scale across the industry.

Recently, UnitedHealth Group named Patrick Conway as the new CEO of its Optum division, effective May 6, 2025.

Conway previously served as the CEO of Optum Rx, the company’s pharmacy benefit management unit, and held key positions at Optum Health.
