Optimus Robots will Deliver ‘Superhuman Precision’ Medical Care, says Elon Musk

While no medical version of Optimus exists yet and the robot remains in its early phases, Musk maintains that its development path could eventually enable such capabilities.

Elon Musk has recently said that Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus, could eventually reshape global healthcare by performing advanced medical procedures with accuracy beyond human capability.

He shared the long-term vision during a conversation with Ron Baron, founder of Baron Capital.

According to Musk, global healthcare systems struggle not because of funding gaps, but because highly skilled specialists are limited in number.

“People often talk about eliminating poverty and providing great medical care, but they never actually have a solution,” he said.

He added that even developed nations face a bottleneck. “There are only so many highly skilled surgeons and specialists, and they don’t grow on trees.”

Musk believes Optimus could fill this gap by offering identical, mass-produced medical robots deployed worldwide. Musk described a future where these humanoid robots carry out precise and complex procedures.

“Optimus will have the level of precision that is frankly superhuman and will be able to do very sophisticated medical procedures, any medical procedure, perhaps things that humans can’t even do because they’re too difficult,” he said.

He further argued that the main constraint in modern healthcare is not infrastructure or investment but the limits of human expertise.

According to him, scalable robotic systems could deliver consistent, high-precision care without the long training cycles required for specialists.

While no medical version of Optimus exists yet and the robot remains in its early phases, Musk maintains that its development path could eventually enable such capabilities.
