Fairfield, California-based NorthBay Health has signed a letter of intent to acquire Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, California. The move would expand the health system to three hospitals.
Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center is a 198-bed hospital and one of the largest employers in Napa County.
Services at the hospital include a regional heart center, an orthopedic center, and a cancer center approved with commendations by the American College of Surgeons. The facility also operates a neurosurgery program affiliated with UCSF.
Additional services include a women’s center, maternity and infant care, inpatient and outpatient minimally invasive surgery, and a full-service emergency department and trauma center.
NorthBay Health currently operates two hospitals — NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield, California, and NorthBay VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville, California.
The system also includes a 100-provider primary and specialty care medical group, the NorthBay Cancer Center, and the Active Wellness Center at NorthBay Health medical fitness facility.
The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, pending a definitive agreement and regulatory approvals.
“We’re proud to share an important step toward expanding care for the Napa County community,” the system said in a March 5 news release. “Our focus remains the same: expanding access, strengthening local care and building a system to serve the Napa County community for generations to come.”
