In addition to over 40,000 surgeries, the centre is dedicated to providing comprehensive orthopaedic care across adult and paediatric care.
Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai, has announced the launch of the Institute of Advanced Orthopaedics, Spine & Joint Care, positioned as one of Western India’s most integrated centres for musculoskeletal care.
With over 40,000 surgeries performed by a team holding a collective experience of 200 years, the centre aims to deliver comprehensive orthopaedic services across adult and paediatric care.
The Institute brings together specialists in orthopaedics, spine, oncology, trauma, sports medicine, and physiotherapy under one roof. It is supported by a multidisciplinary team and facilities including robotics-guided navigation, 24×7 imaging, and critical-care services.
Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep B. Bhosale, Senior Director of robotic Joint Replacement, Hip and Knee Surgery, Nanavati Max Hospital, said, “The Institute combines cutting-edge robotics, minimally invasive techniques, and advanced physiotherapy to help patients regain mobility faster and with fewer complications. We aim to create a Centre of Excellence for all musculoskeletal disorders for patients in India and abroad.”
The centre houses one of Maharashtra’s first in-hospital 3D-printing laboratories. These printers transform CT scans into bone models and surgical guides, enhancing surgical precision and planning.
The institute’s offerings span joint replacement, trauma surgery, spinal deformity corrections, orthopaedic oncology, and upper limb surgeries. The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences recognises its joint replacement unit and focuses on robotic-assisted procedures, including primary and revision hip and knee replacements.
Commenting on community outreach, Dr. Mihir Bapat, Senior Director - Orthopaedics & Spinal Surgery, said, “Beyond the operating theatre, we also connect with the community, creating awareness about posture, ergonomics, and sports injury prevention. Our multidisciplinary team doesn’t just aim to fix bones, but offer mobility and quality of life to the community in general.”
Nanavati Max Hospital also provides integrated rehabilitation services, including pain management and recovery programmes led by experienced physiotherapists.
The launch event was attended by actor Paresh Rawal, cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, and Dr. Vivek Talaulikar, Director and COO, Western Region, Max Healthcare.
