Monitra Healthcare has developed an AI-powered chest patch that provides real-time heart monitoring for early diagnosis of heart conditions.

The startup’s latest device captures transient abnormal heart rhythms that often go undetected by traditional heart monitors.

The compact and discreet device continuously records electrocardiograms (ECG) and uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze the data.

“Many people experience fleeting heart irregularities that are difficult to diagnose. Our device provides continuous monitoring and precise data, enabling early detection and intervention,” said Aparna Bhogu, Co-founder of Monitra Healthcare.

The Hyderabad-based startup, housed at T-Hub, currently has 55 employees and plans to hire 100 more over the next two years to support product development and geographical expansion.

Bhogu said the product has gained traction since its launch, with leading hospitals and cardiologists adopting the technology. The device's superior resolution and accuracy allow it to capture subtle nuances in ECG signals that might be missed by traditional heart monitors.

“The output comes with high-resolution recording, capturing subtle nuances in the ECG signal that might go unnoticed with traditional monitors,” she added.

AI Analysis with Human Validation

The AI-powered patch generates ECG reports, which are further reviewed by certified technicians to correct false positives and false negatives. False positives occur when the AI identifies non-existent events, while false negatives involve missed actual events.

“This blend of technological prowess and human expertise ensures that patients and doctors receive the most reliable information possible,” Bhogu explained.

Monitra Healthcare is developing an advanced product that captures ECG data from multiple viewpoints, providing a comprehensive view of the heart’s electrical activity. The startup is also working on a device capable of tracking SpO2, respiration, brain activity (EEG), and body temperature.

To expand its reach, the company is targeting international markets, including the US, alongside its growth in India.
