The new facility, located along National Highway 27, will serve over 50 million people in Assam and surrounding regions.
Medanta, a leading multi-specialty healthcare provider, has announced its plan to establish a 400-bed super-specialty hospital in Guwahati, Assam, with an investment of INR 500 crore.
The hospital’s board approved the purchase of 3 acres of land from Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Ltd. for INR 30 crore, marking a significant step in the project’s development.
The new facility, located along National Highway 27, will cater to over 50 million people across Assam and surrounding regions. It will offer services across more than 20 specialties, including advanced robotic surgeries and transplant services.
Medanta’s expansion in Guwahati is part of its broader initiative to extend its national reach and provide high-end healthcare services to underserved regions. The facility is expected to address the growing demand for advanced medical infrastructure in the Northeast, an area with limited access to specialized healthcare.
Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman and MD of Medanta, emphasized the importance of this initiative, saying, “Today, with the Board’s approval to acquire land in Guwahati and our plans to build a super specialty hospital, we are taking a decisive step toward fulfilling that vision.”
Pankaj Sahni, Group CEO of Medanta, highlighted the strategic significance of the location.
He said, “Guwahati, often regarded as the gateway to the Northeast, offers strong connectivity across the entire region. Setting up a hospital here will allow us to bridge the healthcare gap and bring high-end medical care within easy reach of millions.”
With this new project, Medanta’s hospital network will expand to seven facilities, adding to its existing hospitals in Gurugram, Indore, Ranchi, Lucknow, and Patna and an under-construction site in Noida.
