Medanta Launches Advanced Surgical Heart Failure Clinic for Complex Cardiac Care

The new facility brings together a multidisciplinary team of cardiac surgeons, heart failure specialists, interventional cardiologists, and rehabilitation experts to deliver evidence-based, integrated care.

Medanta Medicity has announced the launch of its Advanced Surgical Heart Failure Clinic, a specialized centre dedicated to the diagnosis, surgical management, and holistic rehabilitation of patients with complex and end-stage heart failure.

The new facility brings together a multidisciplinary team of cardiac surgeons, heart failure specialists, interventional cardiologists, and rehabilitation experts to deliver evidence-based, integrated care. The clinic is equipped with advanced diagnostics, including CPET, right heart catheterisation, genetic and biopsy testing, along with pre- and post-transplant rehabilitation facilities. It provides therapies beyond conventional medication, such as surgical interventions, mechanical circulatory support devices, and transplant readiness programmes.

With a focus on early detection and timely intervention, the clinic aims to improve outcomes through LVAD or transplant planning, and bridge-to-transplant or destination therapy approaches. It also offers comprehensive patient and family support through counselling, lifestyle education, cost planning, and long-term care guidance.

"Advanced stage heart failure disease continues to be a health crisis in India, with a one-year mortality rate reaching up to 23.7% for some major causes. Analysis of 10,845 heart failure patients showed that diseases leading to end-stage heart disease, such as ischemic heart disease, contribute to a 21.1% one-year mortality, while dilated cardiomyopathy contributes to a 23.7% one-year mortality, and rheumatic heart disease is the third leading cause," said Dr. Anil Bhan, chairman, cardiac surgery, heart transplant, cardiac care, Medanta, Gurugram.
