K’taka to Roll Out Mobile-Based Attendance System in Health Facilities

Key features of the KAMS include Aadhaar-based facial recognition combined with geo-tagged attendance logging, allowing for accurate and location-verified staff check-ins.
The Karnataka government will implement a mobile-based attendance tracking system across all healthcare institutions under the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
The initiative aligns with a FY 2025–26 budget proposal, which outlined the adoption of mobile software to manage staff attendance.
Beginning July 1, the new Karnataka Attendance Management System (KAMS) will be introduced in over 12,000 healthcare facilities across the state.
Key features of the Karnataka Attendance Management System (KAMS) include Aadhaar-based facial recognition combined with geo-tagged attendance logging, allowing for accurate and location-verified staff check-ins.
The system eliminates the need for dedicated biometric hardware, reducing infrastructure and maintenance costs. It also enables more streamlined monitoring of staff presence and simplifies workforce deployment across healthcare facilities.
At present, the department relies on biometric hardware devices to record attendance. These devices require regular maintenance and often incur additional costs due to repairs and replacements.
Moreover, their fixed locations make it challenging for field-level workers and those in remote areas to log their attendance effectively.
Expanding the current biometric setup to new facilities also entails considerable investment in physical infrastructure.
The mobile-based system aims to overcome these limitations by offering a flexible, cost-effective alternative that enables statewide deployment without additional hardware installation.
