Janitri-Powered Network Connects 41 Assam Hospitals for Real-Time Labour Monitoring & Maternal Care
The Made-in-India maternal and fetal monitoring solution will enable early detection and timely intervention during childbirth, contributing to the reduction of MMR and IMR.
Assam has taken a significant step in strengthening maternal and newborn healthcare with the inauguration of a Centralised Labour Monitoring War Room at the National Health Mission (NHM) office in Guwahati.
The facility was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Assam with the objective of enabling real-time monitoring of labour rooms across district hospitals in the state.
The centralised system is powered by technology developed by Healthtech startup Janitri and connects 41 government hospitals across Assam to a single monitoring station at NHM Guwahati. The setup allows healthcare teams to monitor labour rooms through six live channels, supporting coordinated oversight during childbirth.
Under the initiative, Janitri has deployed 82 advanced cCTG devices across the 41 hospitals. These devices enable continuous maternal and fetal monitoring during labour and delivery, forming the backbone of the statewide intrapartum central monitoring network implemented by NHM Assam.
According to the initiative’s framework, the network enables real-time, centralised monitoring across medical colleges, civil hospitals, and district hospitals. The focus is on early identification of risks, timely intervention, and improved coordination of care, with the stated goal of reducing Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR).
Addressing the public at the inauguration, the Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, noted that Assam is the first state in India to adopt a statewide intrapartum central monitoring system, a facility not available even in most private hospitals.
He emphasised that the Made-in-India maternal and fetal monitoring solution will enable early detection and timely intervention during childbirth, contributing to the reduction of MMR and IMR.
Founder of Janitri Arun Agarwal said, “A big milestone for maternal and newborn care and for Janitri. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam inaugurated a Centralised Labour Monitoring War Room at the NHM office, Guwahati, enabling real-time monitoring of labour rooms across district hospitals with a clear goal: reducing MMR and IMR.”
