J&J, AWS, NVIDIA Launch AI Fund to Advance Surgical Innovation

In addition to funding, selected participants will gain access to mentorship opportunities and technical resources, such as developer workshops and tools from Johnson & Johnson MedTech, AWS, and NVIDIA.
Johnson & Johnson MedTech has unveiled the Polyphonic AI Fund for Surgery in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), NVIDIA, and other industry partners, aiming to accelerate artificial intelligence innovation in surgical technology.
The fund will support AI model development, governance frameworks, and advanced data engineering initiatives. It will initially operate through J&J’s QuickFire Challenge platform, a crowdsourcing initiative designed to identify and fund promising AI projects.
Applicants, including startups, academic institutions, researchers, and established companies, will be considered for grant awards.
In addition to funding, selected participants will gain access to mentorship opportunities and technical resources, such as developer workshops and tools from Johnson & Johnson MedTech, AWS, and NVIDIA.
"The program aims to mobilize through 2026, including grant funding from Johnson & Johnson MedTech and/or access to computing tools, tech-stacks, solutions, and compliant datasets from Johnson & Johnson MedTech and its partner network," the company said in a statement.
Johnson & Johnson MedTech, AWS, and NVIDIA will jointly select awardees.
The new initiative expands on Johnson & Johnson MedTech’s ongoing partnership with NVIDIA, which began last year to advance surgical data analysis via the Polyphonic Digital Ecosystem.
That collaboration focused on leveraging NVIDIA’s healthcare AI platform to improve J&J’s surgical technologies portfolio.
This broader alliance addresses persistent challenges in the operating room, such as improving surgical training, enhancing data privacy, automating data enrichment, and streamlining R&D processes.
