Intelerad, AWS Expand Collaboration to Strengthen Cloud-Based Medical Imaging Infrastructure
The collaboration aims to build a unified, cloud-native medical imaging infrastructure designed to enhance accessibility, scalability, and data-sharing capabilities for healthcare providers.
Intelerad, a global provider of medical imaging software solutions, has expanded its strategic alliance with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to advance enterprise imaging in the cloud through AWS HealthImaging.
The collaboration aims to build a unified, cloud-native medical imaging infrastructure designed to enhance accessibility, scalability, and data-sharing capabilities for healthcare providers.
AWS HealthImaging, a HIPAA-eligible service, enables healthcare organizations and software partners to store, transform, and share medical imaging data at a petabyte scale. As part of this alliance, Intelerad will integrate AWS HealthImaging as a key component of its imaging data infrastructure.
The companies will develop a multi-tenant architecture hosted entirely on AWS, consolidating core systems including Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA), and image-sharing workflows into a single backend for enterprise use.
“This strategic alliance is about more than building a platform—it’s redefining the future of enterprise imaging,” said Jordan Bazinsky, CEO of Intelerad. “Together with AWS, we are developing a cloud-native, integrated solution that will deliver scalability, resilience, and interoperability. By harnessing the power of AI and cloud technology, we’ll help healthcare organizations simplify their infrastructure, accelerate access to imaging data, and unlock new possibilities for innovation in patient care.”
The new platform will enable healthcare organizations to stream medical images directly from cloud storage with low latency, reducing delays and costs associated with traditional data transfers. It will also provide modern APIs for connectivity with other systems, enable secure image sharing across organizations, and support the integration of AI-driven workflows.
“Intelerad demonstrates the transformative potential of managed services like AWS HealthImaging for our customers,” said Dr. Rowland Illing, Global Chief Medical Officer, AWS. “We are helping healthcare providers deliver patient care faster and more efficiently by taking on the work of managing infrastructure. Intelerad’s platform will provide clinicians fast access to images, save costs, and support a future where innovation is built in from day one.”
The expanded collaboration is expected to provide faster imaging data access, lower IT operational costs, improved reliability, and simplified management for healthcare providers. It aligns with Intelerad’s broader strategy to advance cloud-native, interoperable solutions that support growth and innovation in medical imaging.
