Infosys, NIMHANS Launch Mental Health Training Manual to Strengthen Workplace Wellness

The program follows a ‘training of trainers’ model, enabling certified participants to share the learning within their teams, further embedding a culture of mental wellness across the organisation.

Infosys, in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), has launched “Wellness Matters: Mental Health First Aider Training Manual,” a practical guide aimed at helping employees identify early signs of mental distress, provide peer support, and connect colleagues to professional care.

According to the company, the initiative is designed to promote a psychologically safe and inclusive workplace culture. “The Mental Health First Aider Training manual covers essential areas such as self-awareness, self-care, understanding mental health conditions, addressing substance use concerns, and basic counselling skills. It empowers employees to identify early signs of distress and facilitate appropriate support,” Infosys said in a statement.

The program follows a ‘training of trainers’ model, enabling certified participants to share the learning within their teams, further embedding a culture of mental wellness across the organisation. “As part of this initiative, Infosys has trained its entire team of Human Resource professionals in India as Mental Health First Aiders, creating a crucial first-response layer of support for employees across the organisation,” the company added.

The manual marks the outcome of a year-long co-creation between the Infosys wellness team and NIMHANS. The engagement began with focus group discussions to understand employees’ well-being needs. A multidisciplinary team of NIMHANS mental health professionals—including psychiatric social workers, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and public health specialists—worked alongside Infosys’ Health Assessment & Lifestyle Enrichment (HALE) team to design and deliver the training programs.

Through this collaboration, Infosys and NIMHANS aim to strengthen workplace mental health frameworks, equipping employees and HR professionals with practical tools to support peers and foster early intervention.
