India’s First 3D Printing Hub for Orthopedic Implants to Open at AMTZ

In a significant move for India's medtech sector, OIC International (USA), Medi Mold (India), and AddUp (France) have announced a strategic partnership to establish the country’s most advanced 3D printing-enabled orthopedic implant manufacturing unit.
The facility will be set up at the Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam.
The collaboration brings together three continents to build a hub that combines additive manufacturing and precision engineering. It aims to address gaps in accessibility, affordability, and technology in orthopedic care. The initiative supports India’s broader push for medical self-reliance and aligns with the “Make in India” campaign.
The facility will mark the launch of OIC’s first line of India-manufactured orthopedic implants. These implants use advanced 3D printing technology to produce cost-effective, mass-scale solutions tailored for both domestic and international markets. According to the announcement, the implants are developed using proprietary technology and are expected to reduce post-surgery recovery times.
As part of the infrastructure setup, AddUp’s FormUp series metal 3D printer will be deployed within AMTZ. Operated by Medi Mold, this unit will enable rapid prototyping and faster market entry, enhancing responsiveness to demand across both public and private healthcare.
The integrated facility is structured to meet three core challenges in orthopedics: innovation, affordability, and market reach. It will provide a low-cost production platform to support government procurement programs, including public hospitals and national health schemes.
At the same time, OIC will cater to India’s expanding private healthcare landscape, making precision implants more accessible.
