In this DHN interview, Jane Dwelly, VP International at CHIME, shared her perspective on the evolving role of healthcare CIOs and the future of digital health leadership in India. She noted that while AI and cybersecurity remain key priorities, "there should be a big concentration on the workforce," because "unless that happens, we're not going to be able to use all the benefits of technology." According to her, building the right talent is fundamental to successful digital transformation.

Jane emphasized that today's CIO is far more than an IT leader. "Their role is fundamentally a strategic role," she said, adding that CIOs must set the vision, lead change, build strong teams, and ensure technology investments deliver value. At the same time, "the CIO's true job is to look after patients and make sure that patient care is not interrupted," while keeping "the end users, whether they be clinicians or patients," at the centre of every digital initiative.
