HonorHealth to Acquire Evernorth Primary Care Clinics in Phoenix
Evernorth operates 18 centers in the metropolitan area, providing integrated primary care services to nearly 80,000 patients.
HonorHealth, a major Arizona health system, is set to acquire multiple Evernorth Care Group clinics across Phoenix, with the deal expected to close in January 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
Evernorth operates 18 centers in the metropolitan area, providing integrated primary care services to nearly 80,000 patients. Upon completion, these clinics will be integrated into HonorHealth’s network.
“This acquisition enhances the services we offer and expands Valley residents' access to care,” said Todd LaPorte, CEO of HonorHealth.
Matt Totterdale, president of Evernorth Care Group, said, “Our clinicians have cared for generations of Arizonans, and we’re proud to continue our commitment to quality care as we join HonorHealth. We’re confident that HonorHealth is the right partner to continue our legacy and enhance care delivery for patients. We remain deeply committed to quality care, and we’re dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition for both patients and our care team.”
This acquisition follows HonorHealth’s previous expansion in the state. In 2023, the system acquired 26 urgent care centers from FastMed, integrating them into its broader network. HonorHealth currently employs over 14,000 people and serves around 5 million residents across the greater Phoenix area.
Evernorth is the health services arm of Cigna, which reported strong second-quarter 2025 results. The segment’s adjusted revenue rose 17% year-over-year, with income increasing 5%. The acquisition comes after Evernorth laid off 261 employees in Scottsdale in 2024 and announced plans to streamline specialty services to focus on primary care offerings.
The financial terms of the HonorHealth-Evernorth deal have not been disclosed.
