Hello Patient Secures $22.5M to Scale AI-Powered Patient Communication
Hello Patient provides AI call agents for outpatient practices, supporting specialties such as dermatology, orthopedics, ENT, urgent care, med spas, and veterinary clinics.
Healthcare startup Hello Patient has raised $22.5 million in Series A funding to expand its generative AI agents designed for patient communications.
The round was led by Scale Venture Partners with participation from 8VC, Bling Capital, Max Ventures, Remus Capital, and FirstLook Partners, valuing the company at $100 million, according to CEO and founder Alex Cohen.
The company has scaled rapidly, powering 10,000 to 20,000 provider-patient conversations per day, up from hundreds per day last October. In less than a year, it has managed over 100,000 phone calls and 300,000 patient conversations across voice, text, and chat.
"We are going deep on a few different specialties. Urgent care is a big focus of ours, ENT and allergy, and then we're starting to do a lot of primary care," Cohen said.
Healthcare Focus
Hello Patient provides AI call agents for outpatient practices, supporting specialties such as dermatology, orthopedics, ENT, urgent care, med spas, and veterinary clinics. Its platform enables appointment scheduling, patient reengagement, and routine inquiries, while meeting healthcare’s privacy and security standards.
"We're still one of the only few that's doing phone calling, texting and chatbot across both inbound and outbound use cases," Cohen noted.
The agents focus on administrative, nonmedical workflows, with the company fine-tuning existing AI models specifically for healthcare practices. Cohen emphasized the challenges of breaking into the sector saying, "It's quite tremendously hard to get into healthcare. Just given the amount of tribal knowledge and workflow experience that you need to get, even for an EMT practice, live, it just has to be a part of your DNA."
Market Context
The competitive AI healthcare communication market has seen notable funding activity. Assort Health raised $26 million in April and later closed a $50 million Series B. EliseAI, expanding from real estate into healthcare, raised $250 million in Series E led by Andreessen Horowitz.
Cohen said Hello Patient aims to expand its sales, marketing and engineering capacity with the new funding. "With where the market is, every healthcare provider or group has just an AI strategy right now, especially on the AI for the patient front," he added.
