Respyr device analyzes breath biomarkers to assess health parameters including blood sugar, liver, gut, and respiratory health.
Bengaluru-based healthtech startup Humors Tech has developed a portable device that uses breath analysis to detect early signs of health issues.
Respyr, a Class B in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) device, analyzes breath biomarkers to assess health parameters including blood sugar, liver, gut, and respiratory health.
Sharing thoughts, Ankur Jaiswal, Founder and CEO, Humors Tech, said, "The device also tracks lifestyle data, such as food intake and physical activity, and combines this with breath analysis to offer a comprehensive view of a user’s health."
Founded in 2021 by Ankur Jaiswal, with Suchita Mulye Kanaldekar joining as co-founder in 2022, the startup is focused on building preventive healthcare solutions through technology.
Users exhale into the handheld device, which connects to a mobile app and provides clinical scores.
The collected data is processed via machine learning models trained on clinical study data, with users receiving personalized health feedback through the app.
The newly curated device's primary target is workers in industries such as coal, mining, chemicals, cement, steel, and construction.
Humors Tech is also working with state governments and public health initiatives to improve early disease detection in under-resourced areas.
Reportedly, 77 units have been sold since launch.
"We have sold 77 units in the initial months since launching the product, and our team recognises the importance of reaching a broader audience. We are actively building partnerships with health and wellness companies, as well as other organisations, to make the device more widely accessible," CEO Jaiswal noted.
As per reports, Humors Tech faced technical challenges in the early days, including device miniaturization and ensuring consistent performance across changing environmental conditions.
However, these were addressed through a self-cleaning mechanism and adjustments for temperature, pressure, and humidity variations, as revealed by the startup.
"Our entire product, from circuit design to internal device structure, is developed in-house by our team. However, we collaborate with a third-party vendor for manufacturing specific components like the enclosure due to the heavy machinery involved," Jaiswal added.
The company currently imports sensors, with plans to develop them locally in the future.
Humors Tech aims to scale up sales, introduce a wireless version with Bluetooth, and expand into international markets. It has set a INR 100 Mn revenue target over the next two years.
