Harbor Health Quadruples Clinical Footprint With Texas Expansion

The acquisition includes clinics in San Antonio, El Paso, and Dallas, along with further expansion in Austin.

Harbor Health, an Austin-based primary and specialty care clinic group and insurance company, has acquired 32 clinics from VillageMD, expanding its presence across Texas.

The acquisition includes clinics in San Antonio, El Paso, and Dallas, along with further expansion in Austin.

The move nearly quadruples Harbor Health’s clinical footprint, growing from 11 to 43 clinics and adding more than 80 clinicians to its team of physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs).

“Harbor Health has been honored to care for more than 50,000 people in Central Texas since we launched in 2022,” said Dr. Clay Johnston, Harbor Health Co-Founder. “We have an increasing demand for our care, and the Harbor Health and VillageMD teams are strongly aligned in our clinical model to operate in value, putting the consumer first and integrating care journeys, to result in better care and outcomes.”

The expanded network now includes 10 clinics in Austin, 10 in San Antonio, 6 in El Paso, and 6 in Dallas.

Growth Tied to Insurance Offerings

Both Harbor Health and VillageMD have established relationships with payers through models focused on member outcomes. The expansion supports Harbor Health’s insurance plan offerings, including large employer health insurance plans and, from November 2025, fully insured individual and family plans on healthcare.gov.

“Our vision is to be the best ‘pay-vider’ in Texas, and this significant acquisition allows us to see that vision more clearly, essentially overnight,” said Tony Miller, Harbor Health Co-Founder and CEO. “With a broader statewide presence, we are now positioned to serve up to 14 million Texans with care and coverage, up from 1.6 million currently. For us, that means more consumers and employers across the state can save money and receive high-quality care.”

According to the company, its plans cost 10% to 20% less than most others, with an aim to expand accessibility and affordability.
