HMH 24/7 will integrate virtual and in-person care, leveraging AI to streamline patient intake and provide continuous care across the health system's network.
Hackensack Meridian Health in partnership with digital health company K Health has introduced a 24/7 virtual primary care service.
The new service, HMH 24/7, will integrate virtual and in-person care, leveraging artificial intelligence to streamline patient intake and provide continuous care across the health system's network.
Robert Garrett, CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health, said, "Our partnership with K Health couldn’t be coming at a better time, as the clear shift in primary care is uncovering the need for hybrid models that seamlessly connect virtual and in-person care across the care continuum."
The HMH 24/7 platform will launch later this autumn and will be available to those with insurance accepted by Hackensack Meridian Medical Group.
HMH 24/7 will automate various administrative processes, including patient intake and data entry, before connecting individuals with clinicians.
This automation, combined with the same electronic medical record (EMR) system used in Hackensack Meridian’s physical clinics, is intended to provide continuity of care across virtual and in-person visits.
According to Ran Shaul, K Health’s co-founder and chief product officer, the service aims to address the modern realities of healthcare delivery.
“The new reality of primary care—regardless of modality—is that it needs to be deeply embedded into a health system’s care delivery model to be effective, and that’s exactly what the innovators at Hackensack Meridian Health have enlisted us to do,” Shaul explained.
He added that the integration of K Health's AI solution is already relieving clinical burnout, reducing administrative burdens, and improving appointment availability at major health systems across the country.
HMH 24/7 will offer a seamless transition between virtual and in-person care, making it easier for patients to receive follow-up treatments, including lab tests and screenings, without having to switch between different care systems.
Clinicians will have a comprehensive view of a patient’s health history, aiding in making informed, high-quality decisions based on a full range of data points.
K Health’s AI-powered chat feature, which allows patients to input symptoms and receive potential diagnoses, will be at the core of the HMH 24/7 platform.
It also takes into account users’ medical history, age, and gender to suggest conditions and connect patients with a healthcare provider if necessary.
This system is already in use by other health systems such as Cedars-Sinai and has proven effective in scaling virtual care offerings.
In July, K Health raised $50 million in an equity funding round to further develop its AI-powered medical services, signaling ongoing interest in AI-driven healthcare solutions.
