The forum promotes global dialogue on regulatory harmonization, pharmaceutical development, public health policy, and healthcare innovation.

Gujarat is set to take the spotlight in the international healthcare dialogue as it prepares to showcase its advanced pharmaceutical and healthcare ecosystem to an international delegation from 41 countries visiting Ahmedabad on June 18, 2025.

This visit is part of the 2nd Policymakers’ Forum, which will be held from June 16 to 19 in New Delhi. The event is organised by the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), Ghaziabad, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), with active support from the Gujarat Food & Drug Control Administration (FDCA).

The forum serves as a platform to promote global dialogue on regulatory harmonization, pharmaceutical development, public health policy, and healthcare innovation. It also allows India to highlight its regulatory advancements and industry capabilities to a global audience.

As part of the forum's itinerary, the international delegates will travel to Ahmedabad to visit two advanced Research & Development centers.

The visits are intended to give delegates a direct view of Gujarat’s infrastructure, technological advancements, and capabilities in cutting-edge pharmaceutical research, drug development, and medical technology.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr H G Koshia, Commissioner of the Gujarat FDCA, said the visits highlight the state’s scientific strengths, strong regulatory framework, and prominent role in pharmaceutical exports and life sciences innovation.

To further foster international collaboration, the Government of Gujarat will host a networking session at the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Center. This session will encourage informal interactions and facilitate bilateral and multilateral engagements in the regulatory and healthcare sectors.

The vital role played by Gujarat in this initiative was acknowledged by Dr Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, Secretary-cum-Scientific Director of IPC and the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI). He appreciated the Gujarat health & family welfare department and the FDCA for their instrumental support in facilitating the state’s participation.

The forum will officially commence on June 16 at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi, with a welcome address by Dr Raghuvanshi. Punya Salila Srivastava, Secretary, MoHFW, will provide a policy overview of India's public health landscape.

A highlight of the opening day will be a keynote address by Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers. This will also mark the official release of IPC’s 15-Year Journey Book, commemorating India's progress in pharmacopoeial science and regulatory standards.

Key sessions at the 2nd Policymakers’ Forum will feature a presentation on the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) by Dr Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), and an overview of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) by Dr Ranga Chandrasekhar, Joint Drug Controller (India). Ravi Dadhich, CEO of the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), will share insights on the Janaushadhi Scheme. At the same time, Satish Mehta from the Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) will present the Jaipur Foot Initiative.
