According to the Revenue Department Additional Chief Secretary Dr Jayanti Ravi, the project is expected to place Gandhinagar district prominently on the global healthcare map.

The Gujarat government is set to establish an International MediCity near Kalol with an investment of ₹13,000 crore, modelled on Dubai Healthcare City.

According to the Revenue Department Additional Chief Secretary Dr Jayanti Ravi, the project is expected to place Gandhinagar district prominently on the global healthcare map.

As per reports, the proposed MediCity will feature Joint Commission International-accredited hospitals and will be supported by infrastructure, including medical and nursing colleges, research and development hubs, a medical devices park, cold chain facilities, and allied healthcare enablers.

“The objective is to create a centralised ecosystem for treatment, rehabilitation and healthcare services, along with a dedicated R&D zone for pharma, biotech and related sectors,” a news report said.

The project is likely to be implemented through a Medical Value Travel board comprising representatives from the state health and tourism departments. Officials aim to complete the MediCity on priority by 2028.

Dubai Healthcare City is recognised as a healthcare and wellness hub, hosting international and regional providers, with dedicated zones for medical education, service delivery, residential, and commercial development.
