Gland Pharma Appoints Dr Reddy's Deepak Sapra as CEO to Lead Next Phase of Growth
Earlier in his career, he headed Dr Reddy's Custom Pharmaceutical Services business, leading its global CDMO operations serving innovator pharmaceutical companies across the US, Europe, and Japan.
Hyderabad’s Gland Pharma has named Deepak Sapra, currently CEO, API and Services, at Dr Reddy's Laboratories, as its next Chief Executive Officer.
He is set to take charge on November 16, 2026, bringing nearly three decades of leadership experience across global pharmaceuticals, APIs, and CDMO businesses.
The appointment has been approved by Gland Pharma's Board of Directors following the recommendation of its Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Sapra currently serves as CEO - API and Services at Dr Reddy's Laboratories and is also a board member of Aurigene Pharma Services.
During his tenure at Dr Reddy's, he has overseen an integrated business spanning active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), generic pharmaceuticals, contract development and manufacturing (CDMO) services, strategic collaborations, public health initiatives, and global patient access programs.
He brings 27 years of executive experience, including more than 23 years in the pharmaceutical industry.
Over the course of his career, Sapra has led initiatives across business development, mergers and acquisitions, licensing, portfolio strategy and international market expansion.
His experience extends across key global markets including the United States, Europe, Japan, Latin America, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Earlier in his career, he headed Dr Reddy's Custom Pharmaceutical Services business, where he led the company's global CDMO operations serving innovator pharmaceutical companies across the US, Europe, and Japan.
He also held leadership roles overseeing global generics business development and portfolio management between 2011 and 2015.
Sapra holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Jamalpur, and a master's degree in management from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
He has also completed executive programmes as a Chevening Scholar at the University of Bradford and as a Fulbright Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University.
