Narayana Health Partners with NDB to Advance Smart Hospitals Across Emerging Economies

Through the partnership, Narayana Health will share its experience in developing technology-enabled hospitals and delivering high-quality care at scale.

Narayana Health, the largest hospital network headquartered in Bangalore, has partnered with the New Development Bank to help member countries strengthen smart hospital capabilities through digital health, technology transfer, and patient-centric care.

Established by the BRICS nations in 2015, the New Development Bank finances infrastructure and sustainable development projects across emerging markets and developing economies. Since expanding its membership beyond the founding countries, the bank has increasingly focused on initiatives that strengthen social infrastructure alongside economic growth.

Through the partnership, Narayana Health will share its experience in developing technology-enabled hospitals and delivering high-quality care at scale.

The collaboration will focus on digital health, health data systems, technology transfer, and knowledge exchange, with the objective of helping NDB member countries modernise hospital services while improving operational efficiency and patient outcomes.

The collaboration builds on a visit by Dilma Rousseff, an economist and former President of Brazil, to Narayana Health City in Bengaluru in March 2026, where she reviewed the hospital group's approach to combining digital technologies with patient-focused care to deliver affordable healthcare.

“This MoU is an institutional partnership between NDB and Narayana Health to ensure that excellence, innovation, efficiency, and affordability can, and must, coexist in healthcare. The signing of this MoU today is a milestone for NDB in its priority to promote social inclusion.” - H.E. Dilma Rousseff, NDB President.

The partnership has been formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Jaipur by NDB President H.E. Dilma Rousseff and Dr Devi Shetty, Founder and Chairman of Narayana Health.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Anuradha Thakur, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, and Alternate Governor for India at the NDB, during the first BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting.
