GE HealthCare Appoints Rodolphe Katra as Global Chief AI Officer

In his new role, Katra will report to Taha Kass-Hout, GE HealthCare’s chief technology officer, and work with the company’s segment teams.

GE HealthCare has appointed Rodolphe Katra, former global chief AI officer at Medtronic, as its new global chief AI officer to advance the company’s AI strategy and connect medical devices, software, and data across its healthcare portfolio.

Katra brings 25 years of experience spanning medical technology, artificial intelligence, and research and development. GE HealthCare CEO Peter Arduini announced the appointment on LinkedIn this week, noting Katra’s experience deploying technology in complex clinical and regulatory environments.

In his new role, Katra will report to Taha Kass-Hout, GE HealthCare’s chief technology officer, and work with the company’s segment teams. According to Arduini, Katra will focus on integrating devices, software, and data to generate deeper insights, improve longitudinal understanding, and support more precise care.

Katra previously served as Medtronic’s global chief AI officer from 2023. His appointment follows the departure of Parminder Bhatia, who had been GE HealthCare’s first chief AI officer. Bhatia left the company earlier this year and joined Edwards Lifesciences as senior vice president for AI in July.

Kass-Hout, who previously held leadership roles at Amazon and the US Food and Drug Administration, joined GE HealthCare as chief technology officer in 2023.

GE HealthCare has been expanding its use of AI across medical devices and internal operations. Arduini said during the company’s second-quarter 2026 earnings call that GE HealthCare is focused on using AI to improve productivity, simplify workflows, and strengthen its supply chain.

The company also claims to have 134 FDA-authorized AI-enabled medical devices, which Arduini said is the highest number among medtech companies.

The appointment comes as GE HealthCare continues to expand its AI initiatives. Last week, the company announced a partnership with Mass General Brigham to explore the use of generative AI in radiation therapy workflows.
