Stryker Brings Mako 4 SmartRobotics to India for Next-Generation Joint Replacement

The Mako 4 platform covers three applications within a single system to provide a more integrated clinical and operational experience for hospitals and surgical teams.

Stryker, a US-based medical technology company, has launched Mako 4 SmartRobotics in India, introducing its latest robotic-arm-assisted platform for joint replacement.

The fourth-generation Mako system integrates patient-specific planning, robotic technology, and haptic guidance across total knee, partial knee, and total hip procedures.

Mako 4 SmartRobotics combines 3D CT-based planning with Stryker’s AccuStop haptic technology.

The system enables surgeons to create a patient-specific surgical plan based on individual anatomy and provides real-time intraoperative guidance during the procedure.

The platform is designed to support greater control and precision while allowing surgeons to execute the planned bone preparation.

The Mako 4 platform covers three applications: Mako Total Knee, Mako Partial Knee, and Mako Total Hip, including advanced primary and revision procedures.

By bringing these applications together within a single system, Stryker aims to provide a more integrated clinical and operational experience for hospitals and surgical teams.

"India's healthcare landscape is evolving rapidly, with growing demand for advanced treatments that support active, healthy lives," said Aman Rishi, Vice President & General Manager, India, Stryker. "At Stryker, we are committed to bringing innovation that empowers surgeons and supports the future of healthcare in the country. We're proud to bring Mako 4 to India, helping raise the standard of care and expand access for joint replacement patients nationwide."

The launch also builds on Stryker’s efforts to strengthen the robotic-assisted joint replacement ecosystem in India. In May 2026, Stryker and Max Smart Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, announced a collaboration to establish the hospital as a training and education centre for orthopaedics, with a focus on robotic-arm assisted joint replacement.

The initiative was intended to support surgeon training, clinical education and wider adoption of technology-enabled orthopaedic care.

Stryker’s Mako platform has evolved over more than two decades and has supported more than 2.5 million procedures across 47 countries.
