Koita Foundation & ICMR Ink MoU to Advance Digital Health & Healthcare AI

Both organisations will focus on Digital Health and AI capacity building, validation, and generation of real-world evidence for Digital Health and AI solutions.

Koita Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for advancing Digital Health and Healthcare AI.

Under the collaboration, both organisations will focus on Digital Health and AI capacity building, validation, and generation of real-world evidence for Digital Health and AI solutions.

The partnership also includes work on data repositories and disease registries, alongside innovation ecosystem development.

The partnership agreement was signed in the presence of Dr Rajiv Bahl, Director General, ICMR, and Dr Mona Duggal, Director, ICMR-National Institute for Research in Digital Health (ICMR-NIRDH).

ICMR's National Institute for Research in Digital Health (NIRDH) has been set up to strengthen capabilities in Digital Health and AI, and to accelerate responsible innovation and adoption at scale across India.

As part of the collaboration, Koita Foundation will work closely with ICMR and ICMR-NIRDH on initiatives aimed at strengthening digital health and AI capabilities and supporting the translation of technology and research into healthcare applications.

The latest development builds on ICMR's ongoing work to expand the use of digital healthtech to improve healthcare outcomes.

Earlier in May, ICMR partnered with India AI to accelerate the responsible use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, combining technological capabilities with biomedical expertise to improve public health outcomes and enable scalable innovation across India.

The collaboration also aims to establish a unified and interoperable AI ecosystem tailored for healthcare needs.

The MoU with ICMR also forms a part of the Koita Foundation's broader work in digital health. Last year, the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) announced a partnership with the Koita Foundation to set up a dedicated Centre for Digital Maternal Care.

This partnership is aimed at training doctors, digitising clinics, and using artificial intelligence (AI) to reduce maternal mortality in the country.
