Gautam Adani Unveils INR 60,000 Cr AI-Driven Healthcare Vision at SMISS-AP Conference
The Adani Group's INR 60,000 crore commitment aims to develop inclusive, technology-enabled world-class healthcare systems.
Addressing the 5th Annual Conference of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery – Asia Pacific (SMISS-AP) at The Taj Mahal Palace, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, outlined an INR 60,000 crore vision to build inclusive, AI-driven healthcare systems in India.
Speaking to a gathering of top spine surgeons and medical experts, Adani emphasized the urgent need to address the growing burden of spinal ailments. He referred to it as a “spinal epidemic,” stating that “nearly 1 in 2 adult Indians suffer from low back pain,” which he identified as the leading cause of disability in the country.
He further warned, “Without addressing this crisis, India's rise would be compromised.”
Adani underscored the role of innovation and leadership in tackling the country’s healthcare challenges. Drawing from his own experience - from working in Mumbai’s diamond polishing sector to building large-scale infrastructure across ports, airports, and renewable energy - he likened spinal resilience in the human body to backbone leadership in institutions.
He acknowledged the contribution of the medical fraternity, stating that doctors are “symbols of hope,” and stressed that “true healing blends both medicine and humanity.”
The Adani Group's INR 60,000 crore commitment aims to develop inclusive, technology-enabled world-class healthcare systems. While the details of the initiative were not elaborated on, the statement comes amidst growing calls for infrastructural and digital transformation in India’s healthcare sector.
The event brought attention to the pressing issue of spinal disorders, with Adani’s remarks positioning healthcare as central to India’s broader development vision.
