Futuristic Chinese Public Hospital Showcases AI-Driven Surgical Workflow in Viral Video

A behind-the-scenes video from a Chinese public hospital has drawn global attention after an Indian woman documented the facility’s automated, AI-enabled surgical preparation process.

The video, shared on Instagram by an Indian woman, has gone viral for showcasing systems rarely seen in public healthcare settings.

In the recording, she begins her pre-surgery routine with an automated shoe-dispensing machine. After scanning her ID, a fresh sterile pair drops out instantly, without any human involvement. She then demonstrates the automated scrub dispenser, where another ID scan and size selection trigger a fully mechanised system to release hospital scrubs.

“No waiting. No human hands required,” she said.

Pari also highlights an AI-powered surgical trolley moving independently across the hospital. She explains that the autonomous robot carries medical instruments and medication, designed to minimize error and improve efficiency inside operating rooms.

A large digital surgery dashboard placed in the hospital lobby is among the most widely discussed elements of the video. The display shows scheduled surgeries, procedures underway, and pending cases, along with a 3D hospital layout indicating the real-time location of each operation.

Just outside the operating theatres, more digital boards list the names of the chief surgeon, assistants, nursing staff, and anaesthesiologist. The screens also show a live timer tracking the duration of each procedure, as well as temperature and humidity readings inside the operating room.

Toward the end of the video, she records the post-surgery protocol, including an automated disposal system for used shoes and scrubs.

“Behind every surgery is a high-tech world you’ve never seen before. From automatic shoes to AI-powered surgeries, let me show you the future of hospital prep,” she wrote in her caption.
