FUJIFILM India has announced the installation of its latest AI-Powered Digital Mammography System, AMULET SOPHINITY, at NM Medical, Khar in Mumbai.

The AMULET SOPHINITY system integrates advanced AI-enabled technologies, high-definition imaging capabilities, and ergonomically designed, patient-centric features.

The features are designed to enable radiologists and technologists to provide accurate, efficient, and comfortable breast imaging experiences.

Reportedly, the deployment marks the first installation in India and is aimed at strengthening FUJIFILM’s position in India’s diagnostic imaging ecosystem.

At the core of the system is Fujifilm’s advanced detector technology, featuring a 50 μm direct conversion detector with a unique hexagonal pixel structure that enables high-definition imaging while supporting low-dose screening.

In addition, the platform provides tomosynthesis imaging in both Standard (ST) and High-Resolution (HR) modes to support improved lesion visibility and diagnostic confidence.

It also includes additional features such as S-View synthesised 2D imaging and optional Contrast Enhanced Digital Mammography (CEDM), intended to enhance its clinical capabilities.

As per the company, the system has been designed to enhance patient experience during mammography procedures.

It features a significantly thinner and curved-edge detector designed to reduce abdominal pressure during positioning and support improved comfort for wheelchair users and women across varying body types.

The system also features Comfort Comp automatic decompression technology intended to automatically reduce compression pressure after optimal positioning while maintaining image quality and helping minimise patient discomfort during screening.

Further to support workflow efficiency, the platform integrates FUJIFILM's REiLI Medical AI technologies. These include Intelligent Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) for dose optimisation based on breast composition, Positioning MAP for positioning guidance and reproducibility, and AI-assisted Positioning Analysis tools that help technologists assess and improve imaging consistency.

The system is designed as a compact, space-saving footprint integrating system architecture, aimed at enabling easier deployment across high-throughput hospitals, diagnostic centres, and space-constrained imaging environments.

The platform’s streamlined workflow interface, operator-friendly controls, and quality control tools are further expected to support operational efficiency and standardised imaging practices.

Commenting on the latest initiative, India, Koji Wada, Managing Director, FUJIFILM India, said, “The first-of-its-kind installation of AMULET SOPHINITY in India at NM Medical reflects this commitment and is guided by our Group Purpose of ‘Giving our world more smiles.’ We remain committed to bringing Japanese precision and advanced healthcare technologies to the Indian healthcare ecosystem in ways that support early diagnosis, greater accessibility, and better healthcare outcomes across the country.”

Founded in 1980, NM Medical provides comprehensive pathology, radiology, molecular diagnostics, cardiology, genetic testing, and preventive health check-up services under one roof.

With a network of over 22 centres across Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Nashik, Navi Mumbai, and Thane comprising a multidisciplinary team of more than 1,000 professionals, the organisation aims to serve patients through advanced diagnostic infrastructure, imaging technologies, and a team of experienced healthcare professionals.
